Going on shaky memory here, but I think Gene Lees in his "Singer and the
Song" book reports something similar happening to Johnny Mercer (one of the
founders of Capitol), who called the company in later yeears and got the
'who are you?' treatment as well. Hope I am remembering this correctly.
