And, perhaps, specify if we mean Big Band-leaders or big bandleaders?
Neither Tucker or Ros led jazz orchestras; but big dance bands.
Ros formed his own rumba band around 1940, but that was a small unit. Gradually the band grew into a big dance orchestra. But I've yet to see a full Ros line-up from the 1940's! He's not featured in any of Rust's discographies, AFAIK.
