Hi! George Formby Sr. (died 1921) was, I believe, the more
interesting of the two and the more creative.
To hear both of them, go here...

...click your way back to Programme 3 and then download the Mp3 (or
listen to it on line).

George Formby Sr. was a major star of British Music Hall, owned
race-horses etc., while George Formby Jr. was one of THE most popular
British entertainers from, say 1930-1945. He lived another couple of
decades after that, but his popularity gradually faded.

Earl.

WERE, in fact! Formby senior was a British comedian of the WWI'era...
he was essentially unknown outside the UK (I own a few British records
of his.).George Formby the younger was a popular recording artist and
film performer of the thirties and forties (into the fifties?) who was very
well-known and popular in Canada (but NOT in the US?).
