Joe, 
at the AFN station the 16 inch records were in shelves. They were stored vertically, 
and the sequence was always numerical. 

Then there were the file cards. By artists and by song titles, referring to the appropriate 
number, of course. AFAIK the recordings on these P-, W- and C- series were ALL taken 
from commercial records. 

There were many separate series for transcriptions, but I never checked them out, 
except for the Grand Ole Opry discs with Uncle Dave Macon!
