I think you mean Jay McShann who employed Charlie Parker in or around 1941.Diz 
had done
some dates with Les Hite on Hit.I remember Hite's recording of "Jersey Bounce" 
from 1942.

To my ears, first bop solo played Hilton Jefferson or Glyn Paque (King 
Oliver's Band) Dec. 30, 1929.

First rate alto solo, ahead of its time for about ten years.
