[78-L] Five Faves

I'm just surprised anyone would admit it. Most classical players I know sneer at anything rural.
There are other "non-jazz" versions of "Milenberg Joys" that I have in my library: Cliffie Stone & his Orchestra (Capitol 3323), one with lyrics by the Jack Teter Trio (London 525). and a pseudo-Hawaiian one by Rodney Rogers' Red Peppers (Brunswick 3744).
And I resent that remark about being "well balanced." I lean to the left.

Many fiddle lovers can appreciate both Mozart and Monroe. And for further 78 relevance and another connection within Erwin's faves, you'll recall that Bill Monroe made one of the few non-jazz 78's of Milenberg Joys, a tune associated with Jellyroll Morton; the others were Leon Chappelear, Light Crust Doughboys, and Hoosier Hotshots (Monroe's source).
