There may be a slight European connection; the groove shape and close groove pitch of the Lyric verticals are very similar to those of British-made Marathon records, which used a V-shaped groove developed by Percy Packburn and which played for 5-7 minutes a side depending on disc size. The National Gramophone Company, which made Marathons, went out of business shortly before Lyraphone started making discs; it is possible Lyraphone acquired patents and technical advice from Britain.
Also, the Lyric orchestrals and operatics were conducted by J. Louis von der Mehden, formerly of U-S Phonograph, and according to his diaries they used quite a large ensemble of over forty players.

Lyric/Lyraphone were US based with no known connection with any European concern, such as Lyrophon.
