In her bio,Doris Day included a picture of her first husband Al Jorden, who was
playing trombone for
Rapp at the time.I had a Gene Krupa 78 on Columbia which listed Jorden as being
part of his trom-
bone section. The number was "I'd Love to Call You Sweetheart".Jorden, according
to Ms. Day,took
his own life sometime in the middle '40s.Jorden also worked for Jimmy Dorsey.

Another minute fact from my almanac.
.Barney Rapp was the brother of Barry Wood, star singer, along with Joan
Edwards, on the Lucky Strike
Hit Parade in the mid 40's. Rapp owned a nightclub in Cleveland . Doris Day
began her big band career with his band there.
There is a 30 minute line check dated June 17, 1939 .Doris sings two tunes.
"Little Sir Echo and "I'm Happy About The Whole Thing."
To my knowledge it is her first recorded performance. She didn''t yet sound
anything like the Doris Day we knew.
