I once owned an RCA late forties pressing of "Sobbin' Blues" by Bunny Berigan
and the label read "by
special request" on one side of the label. In the movie "Swing Kids" I remember
seeing a circa 1953 RCA
78 of "King Porter Stomp" by Benny Goodman. The movie took place in 1939
Germany.Where was the
German issue which brings to mind a question:did RCA use the Victor name in
Germany?I know they
did in Japan as I have a couple of pink and grey Victors I acquired from a
friend several years ago.The
circa 1950-53 RCA Victors had the flat black label with silver lettering as I
understand it.I believe that
to be the case for 1954 as RCA went to the gloss black look with the logo in
colour and silver print.It
was that way into the early sixties then the words "RCA Victor" were in large
white lettering.The 1968
45s had the logo on one side of the label and "RCA VICTOR" on the other. There
was a hit record back
in 1968 called "Baby,Come Back" by an Austrailian group called "The Equals".I
had the record at one
time.

They could be special order pressings, but this still doesn't answer the
question of their source..these discs aren't in WERM and don't have normal EMI
matrix numbers.
