I had forwarded the message on to the ARSC-List and as you can see,
someone supplied an answer, although I see from the standard YouTube
posting http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpCPmsSHaHg that the original
poster had already seen this youtube playing -- he should have told us
that. The label he needed is right there on the video. If he doesn't
know how to capture the picture, I'll send it to him if he asks.

As I commented on youtube, I can see the matrix number clearly, 59818,
and I explained that the info at the bottom of the label would not help
in any way determine the recording date because it is just the patent
info for ALL Columbia records. Besides, this label is a later
re-pressing, not that the original label would determine the recording
date either. I don't have my Spottswood discography at hand, but did
ask Dick to check the matrix number to see if he has a recording date.
It would only be in the discography if it was recorded in the U.S.

This certainly should help, because before the YouTube poster added to
the destruction of the record by playing it acoustically, he did show
the label close up. The matrix number is 59818, and the copy he has is
a later repressing because it has a post-1925 label for an earlier
acoustical recording.

Dick -- I'm not near my set of your discography, do you have a recording
date? Is this a U.S. recording?

I'll send this info on to the inquirer.

Thanks for your help.

This just came into the 78-L, and I suppose that over here on ARSC-List
there might be an archive that has this, or that Dick Spottswood might
be able to lead his to one. I'm not sure if the Greek (?) lettering
will forward correctly. but the title and artist is in our alphabet and
will be readable. As you can see, he needs a label scan of this record
to include in his master's thesis.

 Hi all,
I need an old 78 Rpm label to use my master thesis. I have sound
recording (as mp3) but have not label. I don't know what I can do to
find it. Does someone help me or suggest something?
