[78-L] Cleaning Gels

A local acquaintance has commented to me about cleaning gels in relation 
to the conserving of artwork and the like, he said he saw such a product 
for records as well?!

Is there such a product, he said it is a liquid that set to a gel, 
therefore not good for acetates or flaked shellac, I would presume it 
might be cost prohibitive, otherwise he said there was no residue and 
supposedly worked...

Any clues on this?
