There were several Nocturne labels, all equally confusing. Two are in ARLD.
1. Hollywood address on labels. ARLD lists LPs (NLP1-7; dated 54/55). Jazz label (Babasin).
This label issued promotional 78s in a 100 series (103 = Earl Hines, from NLP-5).
2. Nocturne Records, distr. by RKO Unique. Blue label.
Available image is 110-78 by The Sonics (mx PJK-402).
Gart lists (RKO) Unique label in New York on Broadway etc. (1955-1960).
3. Hawthorne, NJ/New Rochelle, NY label, listed in ARLD.
ARLD mentions 49669 (11/53), 1003 (5/55) and EP-101 (10/57).
I have no info at all.
4. 29 West 57th St., NY address on (black) label.
A single issue known to me, which is fairly common:
3135-A/B Johnny Fosdick and Orch (Anita Boyer-v): Swinging The Jingle / Get Hep.
Odd cat.nr.
Surprise: Having saved 7 label images of 3135 in 6 years (yes, life is not easy),
it appears now that one of them is credited to:
HARRY SOSNIK AND ORCHESTRA (+ Boyer).
Is Johnny Fosdick a pseudonym? Is the Sosnik issue the first pressing or a late one?
Also any other info on these rare labels (and their issues) appreciated.
