Gold Seal Vol. 3 (a-h) Eddie South: Dark Angel of the Violin [no The in album title]
NOTE:
Letters are definitely matrices, not takes.
Composer credits as on labels.
Gold Seal was owned by Leonard Klein.
----------

There are 2 Gold Seal labels in ARLD, in California and Chicago.
1) I have images of GS 001-002 by "Red Mack" a/h All Stars (mxs St.001-004).
Labels state: GOLD SEAL / Recorded In Hollywood.

2) A different label, stating: Gold Seal [not all-caps] / Mfd. by Gold Seal Record Co. Chicago.
Several issues in ARLD, dated c.1946-3/47-4/48, with odd release nrs.
My images include 333 ('Bats In Your Belfry'), 3501 (Kenny Jagger, organ), and
5657 (Valaida, with Buzz Adlam), & 7262 Frankie Laine with The Hollywoodsmen
(yes, on the Chicago label).
There is also A-67 Red Murrell Ozark Mountain Boys: Hound Dog Blues
( I cannot see if A-67 is the cat.nr or the mx.nr).
ARLD lists NO owners for these GS labels.

3) a different label type is used for the Eddie South titles, without rim text.
Owned by Leonard Klein (acc. to Barnett), and recorded in NY.
The matrix letters suggest only a few recordings on the label.
Is anything known about this label or Klein?

4) There is also a Gold Seal Album by Robert Crum (piano), incl. issues 101-103.
This may be on the Chicago label (I have images of the album only), since Crum played in Chicago.

Any info on these very small labels appreciated.

Titles are "Hot Canary" and "Best Years of My Life" by Eddie South & his Ensemble.
Master numbers are 2005-ES and 2006-ESW. No catalog numbers.
Label is black with a gold trim and the label name in script.
Can anyone give me a recording date for this?
