*Not a sales pitch, but a discovery. *
In 1951 Capitol Records filmed a promotional, *Wanna Buy A Record?*, which
runs 33 minutes. "This lost gem was never shown to the public and was used
for promotional use only among record executives!" The exclamation point is
not mine.
It stars Mel Blanc and Billy May, with guests Harry Stewart (from my home
town, Tacoma-aka/better known as Yogi Yorgesson. Add appearances by Alan
Livingston, Dean Martin, Jimmy Wakely, Les Paul and Mary Ford and others to
Mel's record store, and you have history, fun, and insider stuff you
overlooked by PBS.
A friend discovered the film, dubbed it to DVD, and suggested I share it
with aging record mavens like myself, and so I re-upped for 78-l's list
serve. I participated as Krabgrass at aol.com for several years.
If you'd like a copy, please send me a disc featuring favorites from your
record collection. I don't care if you collect other collector's trash, or
the extraordinary finds of the century. I'll trade my lost *Wanna Buy a
Record?* DVD for a disc of your choices of delights from your collection, or
at least as many as can fit on a disc. You pay your postal costs and I'll
pay for what I send you. A free exchange.
Mail your disc to:
*Dennis **Flannigan**, *

*WA 98403-1106.*
Depending upon the response, I'll reply quickly, or borrow the DVD burner
again.
Again, your personal favorites from your 78's in exchange for this
delightful piece of history.
