It does not help but adds to the confusion...
All Wilf Carter NY recs are in Russell, in a few groups of long sessions.
Most were issued in B-46/4700 series, but almost all are on MW and/or in B-8000 series .
Sessions with ranges of 4600s issues:
Apr 1936 - B-4601
Jun 1936 - B-4602-4647
Mar-Jun 1937 - B-4619-4623
Nov 1937 - B-4634-4636
May 1938 - B-4642-4648
Oct -Dec 1938 - B-4649-4677
Apr 1939 - B-4658
Mar-Apr 1940 - B-4677-4728
Dec 1941 - B-4734-4740.
I think that B-4685-87 were issued in 1940.

>>> B-4687 is Wilf Carter's "Let's Go Back to the Bible"/"Chuck Wagon Days", if that helps.
My Russell discography hasn't been unpacked yet so I don't know if that's a Montreal or New York recording.

in the mid-1943 supplement, so there's a rough idea.
I've seen those titles for decades without realizing they were country.
"The Singing Soldier"..don't know anything about him. I wonder if he survived the war?
