Reportedly, Nat Cole went to the Capitol Records headquarters for an 
appointment. A receptionist asked him his name and had no idea who he 
was. When the wife of a friend of mine was quite young, she served as a 
receptionist at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. One day a man 
came in for an appointment. She announced him as “Sam Berg.” It was 
Carl Sandberg.
