that seems to be the case with many Canadian versions of US labels

Victor in Canada kept the Batwing label in use through 1946, matter of
act..never had the Scroll

ictor in Canada kept the Batwing label in use through 1946, matter of
act..never had the Scroll. Bluebird labels looked fairly similar to the US
ersion, and we kept the buff label in use through 1939 and had "Staff" in use
or about five minutes.

I think the VE oval was in use even beyond the switch to a standard run-out, but
ot m uch longer..it also stayed on the labels through the mid 30s. Not sure if
anadian-recorded Victors ever showed the Diamond. So little domestic recording
ctivity through the 1930s, with most of it C&W and the odd dance band, who
nows if they ever upgraded to the better recording system?

 like Batwings??

 so if I understand correctly,
ntil 1938 these records still looked rather like US Victors of the late
920s as regards where the eccentric grooves were placed at the end of each
 ide?

I've not seen any of these Canadian records....so if I understand correctly,
ntil 1938 these records still looked rather like US Victors of the late
920s as regards where the eccentric grooves were placed at the end of each
ide? And what about the VE symbol....was it still the earlier oval, had it
hanged to the diamond, or was there no symbol? (And if they ever used the
iamond, about when did they start doing so? The same as in the US?)

I have quite a few US pressings as well as a late 40s album of reissues on
RCA Victor. Many of his Canadian recordings were issued in the States,
although most were dubbed because Canada didn't extend the run-out to the
label till 1938. All are as "Montana Slim".
