[78-L] RCA 40-xxxx Series [was RCA 44- Dash Series]

Darned if I know. I wonder if there was another series from 40-0000 and then they started hot jazz ten-inch at 0076? I'm just noting that the 1948 catalogue lists this in the "know what your record numbers mean" column, while most other numbering series start at the nearest zero.
