Also have acquired a few Japanese (? - Asian of some flavor) 10" 78s.

Both on Victor. I can read "Victor" and that's it, save for catalog and 
numbers.

One of them has a typed label taped on - "Tankoo-Bushi (with lyric)" and 
thge flip says the same thing (melody only)

One of the sleeves looks not unlike an American sleeve with images of 
other artists that might interest the buyer and some advertising copy, 
except it is Asian characters. Haven't had a moment to play them yet. 
Not expecting much.

So what was the market for these that the the same tune would be 
presented in a vocal and an instrumental version on the same record?
