"Topical" collectors *are* interested in the subject of the stamp's
image rather than the completest collector who collects by Scott number.
 In record collecting we also have our numerical series collectors.

The defect has to be LARGE to make the stamp more valuable.  Normal
stamps are more valuable when they are well-centered, just like records.

Here again, I am interested when a record label is WAY off-center,
enough to show what the original center hole of the paper label was.  I
am also interested when a record was pressed with two labels on one side
because the top label is often removable.  (Not talking about
paste-overs, of course.)  It is also interesting when Lawrence Welk
labels are on a pressing of an obscene heavy-metal recording.  Just
imagine the shock of a little old lady with her gray hair in a bun when
confronted by *#$@)((#*$&^!@%  This happened early in the history of the
CD and was widely discussed in the press!
