Malcolm, your point is well taken! What can be said about the Hawaiian 
steel guitar can be said about most physical formats for recorded 
music: They are not only part of a past technology but the aesthetics 
they express as art and entertainment are also long past. A collector 
friend of mine collects music from roughly 1926 to 1938, and his house 
is decorated with the art and utilitarian goods of that time period. 
The entire interior of his house is a statement that expresses the 
aesthetics of different media from that period to complement his music 
because the music was part of a vast, complementary culture.
