Hi David,

Prior to the last flood, the bus system was reasonably inexpensive & extensive. I don't know the current situation but the Canal St. & Bourbon/Carondelet Street intersection & a block away, the Canal St. & Royal St./ St. Charles Ave intersection are major bus transfer points. Fares used to include a transfer good for several connection. As kids we could often use them to make a loop, avoiding a second fare. Around 1960 the bus fare increased from 7 cents to a 10 cents as air conditioned buses began to be phased in. Riders were so upset that some would toss the fares at the driver. This was about the time that the original Coke bottles went from 5 to 6 cents in machines, outrageous!! ;>).

Hope you can work things out. New Orleans is small town that has had an enormous cultural impact. Life would have been much improved without the Army Corps. of Engineers, the oil companies & the ongoing shenanigans of La. politics. We need to resurrect Huey Long!

Cheers,

Duane Goldman

The only parking option is to have their valets park my car for $28 a day.
