I don't recall how long he was a pop music reviewer for The Gramophone, 
but at some point he started reviewing jazz under the pen-name "Oliver 
King". I must've read this because I used to have a complete run of the 
magazine from 1941-1956.

A few typos have slipped through the OCRing.
