With Philips it's even more interesting to ask:
What was the first US Columbia sourced record issued in the UK by 
Philips on 45?
Because Philips was the last of the major UK labels to adopt the 45 rpm 
format - and that was in January 1958.
On the other hand: by the advent of 1960 the label seems to have 
abandoned the 78. Up until, at least, October 1959 most singles were 
issued in both formats.
Guy Mitchell's "Heartaches By The Number", issued in October 1959 on 
Philips PB.964 is, perhaps, a good guess.
