[78-L] Joe Meek, Bad Penny Blues and Boo Woo

Regarding James’ recording of “Boo Woo,” for anyone looking for a CD 
version, it is included on the four-disc Quadromania collection “Harry 
James—Sweet Georgia Brown”  issued in 2005. The performance is on CD 1, 
track 13. Also included are “Woo Woo,” “Home James” and “Jesse” from 
James’ February 1, 1939 session for Brunswick. “Boo Woo” and “Woo Woo” 
were also issued in Columbia’s “Boogie Woogie” album C-44; “Home James” 
and “Jesse” were only issued in the U.S. on Brunswick. All four sides 
were originally issued on Brunswick laminated pressings so the sound is 
great! The performances are excellent; the digital transfers quite 
acceptable. I bought the set three months ago at Half-Price Books for 
$3.98.
