The signal which is common to both groove walls is what you get
when you make a (well-tuned) mono mix!  If it 's any more
complicated that that, you will have to educate me.

If only one groove wall has a click, the signal common to the two walls is just the wanted signal, which is obviously desirable. However, mixing to mono will average out the click to the two (equal) channels. Only if there are disturbances to the signal in each channel which are equal in intensity but out of phase will the mono signal be 'clean'.
