Russ Connor’s Benny Goodman: Listen to His Legacy lists two Let’s Dance
broadcast selections for December 8, 1934 arranged by Joe Lippman but
not “Love is Just Around the Corner” or “Georgia Jubilee.” A studio
band with Goodman as leader recorded “Georgia Jubilee” February 2, 1934
[page 42]. The tune was again recorded during the Bill Dodge sessions
[page 43] later that month or the next. Those are the only two mentions
of Goodman performing “Georgia Jubilee.” Connor’s “Wrappin’ It Up” does
not mention it, either. The original studio recording of “Georgia
Jubilee” was first issued on (E) Columbia, then American Columbia,
although the order is reversed in most discographies. Same is true for
the other two tunes recorded at the February 2, 1934 session: “Junk
Man” and “Ol’ Pappy.” I have the complete session on both American and
English Columbias. By the way, Connor’s “Wrappin’ It Up” book is now
selling on the Internet for $200 or more.
