The purple Okeh label first appeared in July 1940; it replaced (and

the number sequence) the blue Vocalion label. CBS lost the rights to
Brunswick
and Vocalion due to not releasing the requisite number of Brunswicks after
Columbia became their flagship brand...they replaced Vocalion with Okeh.
Since Okeh continued the catalog-number sequence, any Vocalions kept in
the actuve catalog were issued on Okeh with the same catalog number...!
