I can think of an example where you pay extra, but get nothing. When you 
subscribe to a TV cable or satellite package, the more channels you use, 
the more you pay. Sounds reasonable, but you only can watch one channel 
at a time. When you go into a shop you pay for what you buy, not for the 
amount of choice available.
