Just played some records and two of them have popped some questions in my head. On days like this, when I'm cold, snow-bound and need to do inside things, I grab piles of 78s, put them on the turntable without looking at their title and enjoy, plus tell myself I will recognize the song and the artist.
Two failed my test, I recognized the songs, but not the artists. First was the Dinning Sisters singing "If I had my life to live over" and "My Adobe Hacienda", It's on Capitol, with the Art Van Damme quintet. The other was Charlie Monroe, singing "Our Mansion is Ready" and" A Valley of Peace". He's backed up by "His Kentucky Pardners". It's on RCA Victor. Don't have any idea how long since I may have played these records before, if ever, but I don't know much about either artist, would appreciate any data on them from this always knowledgeable group.
