Illinois has several "mispronounced" towns; aside from "Karo" (like
the syrup?), there is VY-enna, New BER-lin and San Chose (ends
in an "s" sound, NOT a "z!"). The first two may be WWI-era changes...
I have NO idea about the third...?!
