Funny. My Latin dictionary says that "condo" means to hide, cover or seal. 
Which makes sense.
And if we assume that the word is a combination of "con" and something, the 
closest we can get is "con domina" which means, approximately, "with (the 
consent of the) dominant female". Which also makes sense.
But my Webster says the word probably derives from a misspelling of the 
inventor of the whole thing, an English doctor, Mr. Conton.
Salut, anyway - although there's a slight rubber aroma arising from this 
particular Merlot, the Château Condom...
