I agree with that. A Beatles mailing list I am on recently was wow-ed 
about some of these that were made at Capitol's plant in Canada. Some 
Beatles stuff, Anne Murray etc. I couldn't believe that someone would 
pay big bucks for what are essentially fake collectibles.

It particularly honks me when a some well known high profile 
collectors/ auctioneers offers these items that were produced after 
hours at places like Specialty as being 'authentic'. Authentic my @$$.

They remind of the fake box set CDs made in Europe in the early 80s. 
Some geezer would take an off the shelf CD, put it in a box with a 25 
cent pin, number it, and call it a commemorative limited edition with 
a 3 times the price tag on it! In some case I heard that you could 
hold a convention for all the people with serial number '1' for some of these.
