FWIW, Okeh is usually credited as the first company to record at non-studio
locations...I would assume they had a VERY large "portable" (sort of) 
recording
arrangement. I have NO idea whether pictures of this (1) exist (or EVER 
did?),
and (2) which other companies copied the idea (and if so when?!)...!
