Bob Keane, the founder of Keen Records, who recorded Sam Cooke, and Del-Fi, which recorded Ritchie Valens, has died at 87. Here's a link to a story on Keane. Got to meet him once in the 1990s. He was still running Del-Fi, which was reissuing batches of surf-era music on CD. His office was still in Hollywood, Sunset & Vine - it was almost a throwback to the old days of the independent record plugger. Nice, but kind of sad.
