The Japanese seller offers 3 78s, with actually 3 different label types (all same price).
All 3 label variants I had never seen before, so he should be encouraged to show more
of his interesting stuff (maybe a label collector can buy all 3 items?).
The "camel" label is labelled "Orient Record", from Orient Factory, Nipponophone,
but I have found until now only 2 items with this label, which both omit the words "Orient Factory".
Note that at least 2 Orient labels were issued in the US, one of them showing a sphinx logo
(a SPHINX in the US ??? to paraphrase the specialists !). Another Orient(J) label (# 1499 available)
is very different (but has similar Japanese characters) and shows a wonderful large camel rider
against an orange background
The seller offers 2 biplane records. Along the lower rim the manufacturer is shown (not very clear).
The broken record gives THE GODO PHONOGRAPH CO., LTD.
The other one is #1249, issued by IMPERIAL PHONOGRAPH CO., LTD.
It now appears that I have another label image of Imp(J), also showing a biplane, but bright red
and with different label design.
So very interesting,

But that is a VERY interesting label, with a biplane as the trademark.
It looks to be 100 yen which is about a buck. It is possible that it
might be the kind of Japanese recording that is not necessary to listen
to more than about 15 or 30 seconds of it to get the idea of it, so what
is left might be good enough!
Looking at Garage_Depo's other items I see another record where the
Nipponophone label looks very much like an early Brunswick label except
there is a CAMEL in place of the crest. A CAMEL??????????? In
JAPAN????????????

It is when you look at the third picture that you see the whole
record--or at least what is left of it. Another record you don't have
to listen to all of it???

But do you have samples of THESE labels??? (I posted the URL of another
record he is selling, so there are two to consider.) I don't know
Japanese records nor what the contents of these are, but I have a
feeling these might be acoustical and might be rather rare and unusual
labels even in Japan. These photos do give most of the appropriate
discographical info to Japanese discographers, but we who don't read or
speak Japanese don't know what the contents are until hearing, at least
what is left. And as I said in my previous posting, these might be the
type of oriental record that only need be played for 15 seconds or so to
get the idea. Yes it is nice to have an unbroken record, but for
discographical purposes if it is rare this will still give the info.
And 100 yen is about 91 cents U.S. today. (The postage is a killer
however, and the photos are good enough for me!)
