[78-L] Vernon Dalhart and Hal Kemp

Here's one for the disco-genealogical among us.
As is widely known, Vernon Dalhart's real name was Marion Try Slaughter and he was from Texas.
Reading the liner notes to the Sony CD of Hal Kemp this morning, I noticed that Kemp married a "leading local debutante" from Dallas named Betsy Slaughter.  
Any known connection?
