Direct metal mastering made 40 minute sides possible with no loss in fidelity
at the time CDs were being issued of the same material, so there was no need to
drop tracks (Mike referred to bonus tracks on the cassette versions..the cast
album of "Nine" had extra material on the cassette). But even without DMM, some
companies squeezed 45 minutes onto a side, notably Murray Hill. You want high
fidelity? You want volume? Go someplace else. I also have a Boston Pops disc
that runs 45 minutes a side, put out by Radio Shack.
