When I need to record a phone conversation, I've had good luck using  
Skype. I use my computer to make the phone call (for about 2 cents a  
minute, Skype can call landline or cell phones in addition to other  
computes) and then use a program like TotalRecorder or Wiretap to  
capture the audio going through my computer's sound card. Using this  
system I can easily record both sides of the conversation, then save  
it as a WAV or MP3 file.
