While Alan Bunting's article about copyright was very interesting, the
article that preceded it at http://www.rfsoc.org.uk/news.shtml was
even MORE interesting. I had not heard that Angela Morley had died in
January. Who is Angela Morley I hear many of you asking. Angela Morley
had been Wally Stott until 1972. Wally Stott, of course, was the music
director of The Goon Show, and it turns out had been the music director
of Phillips Records in the early 50s. In the last couple of decades I
have seen occasional credits of the Goon Show music being conducted by
Angela Morley but was never able to find any conclusive answers to the
OBVIOUS question. Now I have them. There is also an explanation of
where the very different name came from, and confirms why there was a
substitute conductor for "The Last Goon Show Of Them All". Check out
the obit from The Guardian which has some wonderful comments by Max
Geldray and a picture of Angela with several of her Emmys.

There is a reprint of The Times obit at:

It is interesting to see the gender change in the obits when discussing
Wally as a he and Angela as a she. There's loads of other things there,
just google "ANGELA MORLEY (formerly WALLY STOTT)"
