My understanding:

For Columbia's Spanish series, C was its principal line during the acoustic era. (Also T for tangos etc.) Portuguese B.

Generally, during the early electric era, Portuguese and Spanish series started at 1001-X through the 6100s, with some reissues of domestic recordings around 6600-X. There are also 12" Spanish electrics in the 52000-X range. Spottswood has gaps. Some are records recorded in Cuba, others perhaps just weren't accounted for, due to limitations of surviving paper and actual records located.

Some of these included West Indian items recorded in New York. Most of these are by Sam Manning, Lionel Belasco, Merrick, and Jack Celestain, many of which I am looking for and would like to buy or trade should you have any of these.

1-X through about 67-X were principally Arabic recordings. A handful were recorded in the U.S. Most were reissues - master pressings - of English Columbias. I seem to recall some Persian issues here, but would have to check to be sure. There were perhaps 11 12" domestic Arabic records in the 50000-X series./steve
