The Ampex AG-440 went one step further.  The head block was easily
removable and replaced with  heads of other track configurations for
either quarter-inch or half-inch tape.  The guides at the flywheel
stabalizer and the swing-arm were could be set for either tape width by
just lifting and turning them.
