[78-L] Jan Savitt and vocalists

I also liked Savitt's shuffle style.Blowers I remember for his short stint with Bunny Berigan
from 1938.I had a Shoestring LP of Berigan's band and on "Shanghai Shuffle",he plays q-
uite well.However,when he played at a faster tempo,he had a tendency to plod.I had anot-
her Berigan LP(on Sandy Hook),that bears me out.The selection that comes to mind was
a Berigan performance of "Devil's Holiday".I don't know whatever became of him after his
stint with Berigan.His replacement was Buddy Rich late of Adrian Rollini's combo.

Russ Isaacs,  on the other hand,  had the shuffle thing down perfectly...the 
right guy for the Savitt drummer's job!
