[78-L] Robert Johnson "Love in Vain"

Does anybody know the story behind the spoken words that are at the beginning of Robert Johnson's recording of "Love in Vain" (take 1).  He says something like, "I wanna go with our next one, myself."

It's present on the Columbia CD release, and the sound is much scratchier than the actual song.  Is this from a test groove?  And if so, is it from the area on the stamper that would not be pressed on shellac copies?
