[78-L] re-issues

What were the first 8 track per side LPs ?
I remember one of the Columbia Odyssey albums had 2 or 3 LPs with 6 cuts per
side, the last disc with 8 per side - and a
note in the booklet indicating that advances in technology permitted
including more tracks. Always seemed strange (maybe not
considering the precarious financial returns on these series - re-mastering
might have been considered too expensive) they didn't
re-do the 6 track discs.
Best wishes, Thomas.

I think the Jack Hylton album also had only 4 tracks per side, although some
had been twelve-inch.

Then Grauer and Keepnews came along and produced those great jazz reissues
on
RCA with 8 tracks per side, which became the norm for the Vintage series a
few
years later.
