Hi Inigo,
I think that's Penny Serenade...Melancholy Serenade was the theme music on
the old Jackie Gleason TV show.
And, speaking of stealing music...the Gleason theme is pretty much the same
as the 1936 pop tune Through The Courtesy of Love...there is a memorable
Richard Himber record of it.

I've always loved "Melancholy Serenade" because of the thrilling story,
which always bring tears to my eyes... specially when Cary Grant defends his
rights to stay with the little girl despite his uncertain echonomic
stability...
But almost a stronger point is the loooong scenes in the record shop where
Irene Dunne works, when Cary Grant goes there to buy hundreds of 78s.
