[78-L] MP3 DVDs

Since there is usually someone on this list who can supply answers to most
questions of the recording variety, here is my query:

I've just found a website called Earthstation1.com. They sell a number of
radio and TV shows on CD and DVD. I was looking for old Sandy Becker and
Chuck McCann TV shows (children's programming ca. 1960s), and the company
offered both, as well as quite a lot of other vintage television and
historical footage.

What captured my attention was that the company offers hundreds of hours of
radio shows on DVDs in the MP3 format. Would one need special equipment to
play one of these? I cannot get any additional information about this on the
site itself (otrcat.com has a FAQ page where Jon carefully explains MP3
files and what is needed to play them), and the information I've been able
to find is confusing.

Who has had experience in this format, and what is needed? And while we're
at it, has anyone ordered any of their products and can say anything about
them pro or con?

Many thanks in advance,
Jeff Sultanof
