If that is a true idler wheel, it's size does not influence speed.  You can
remove it and put an O ring on in its place.

Sounds like my old Garard. I have a Stanton 500 with a 3 mil needle on 
it. Plays most anything, if I can get it to rev up. I bought the cart 
and 2 needles, one LP and one 78 a long time ago for very cheap. They 
aren't cheap anymore. The idler is like stone. I wish I could get a new 
one. They are reman, but again, I am a cheapskate too.

Yes N8-3S is readily available through the usual suspects. Buy several, 
keep one is stock.

But, aren't ceramic cart less compliant and harder on records?
