On the same dealer sites that are selling the newly manufactured
powerpoints, I see that they also have 3 mil sapphire styli for those
retro phonographs.  So the needles ARE available, but they do not come
with the phonographs, nor do the instructions for the machines mention
them, tell where they are available or even recommend using them.

What is interesting is that back in the early days of rock price guides
and collecting magazines like Goldmine in the late 70s and early 80s,
the idiots who wrote those things also did not know that you can't play
78s with an LP needle.  In many places they wrote that rock 78s were
garbage and that the price values of them were much, much lower than the
45s.  It wasn't until the 90s that some of them were finally clued into
their stupidity, and now they are pricing rock 78s above the 45s like
they should be.
