[78-L] Substitute sopranos

No, not Tony and family.
What I haven't seen mentioned yet is that its the 1952 EMI
Tristan und Isolde where Schwartzkopf supplied the High
C's for Flagstad; in the studio, not dubbed in.
1933 abridged Rosenkavalier (back to 78's!) - Lotte Lehmann
left the studio b/4 the last two sides were recorded so her
final two words, "Ja, ja" were supplied by Elisabeth Schumann.

A distantly related topic: looking at the notes for a reissue of
Stokowski's Rite of Spring, it took 7 sessions over just under
a three year span to produce the eight sides. A total of eight
takes for the last side.
